Summary
MorganWood offers a unique profitable opportunity to a wide range if people and groups. We have expressions of interest from a variety of groups including First Nations. Most remote groups can benefit by our greenhouses. In addition there are farmers market groups participating in a local supply initiative who could purchase as a cooperative effort. There are a number of greenhouses that could benefit by our technologies.
Across Canada the industry is growing in commercial ventures. This demonstrates the viability of this business and shows the diversity of application. In the past a business would have to be 20,000 square feet or more to meet commercial needs and prove viable. The technology needed for micro agriculture was astronomical in price. It was not possible nor economically viable to build small scale operations.
Our market research has shown that a small group of Eco greenhouses can produce enough variety and enough volume to gain a solid foot hold in the local markets.
Our research shows that if a small winter market has 1 anchor tenant then home sized operators would be able to operate year round and their businesses would augment the market.
To execute this business plan we intend to open a limited company located in Quesnel, BC. The management of MorganWood consists of co-owners. In addition, we have assembled a board of advisors to provide management expertise. We are highly skilled business people with a long history of business development. Our history includes a diverse collection of activities. Our last major development was to prepare a private post secondary school chain for entry into Asian markets, increase the companies market share, expand the business and position it for sale by the retiring owners. We have experience in organic growing and greenhouse operations. The technology section will be headed by our Electronics Engineering Technologist who is also very experienced in business start up and international business dealings.
The customer base for food produced in the facility will be people within 10 miles of our location. Our target sales for the technology will be the Cariboo region, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. We will start with everyone who owns a greenhouse then we will advertise for new customers. We have an extensive list of resources through farmers markets where we expect to generate interest. We are fortunate to have no competition. Obviously, this technology will extend to home owners interested in eliminating their gas and hydro bills. We have people who are interested in augmenting their home heating needs with this technology. We expect this end of the business to eventually out pace the greenhouse industry. A separate business will be drawn up when and if more funds are needed to launch that service.
In closing.
We all know that the best way to get ahead is through stabilized conditions. Reliable high quality local food provides that basic security of one of the prime human rights. In the past we could not imagine affording the technology required. It is only in the last few months that prices for the equipment have fallen sharply and enable this plan. The drought in California does not look like it will improve over the next few years. We have detailed information that suggest this problem will become wide spread and will not diminish. The studies that are finally beginning to surface in the media suggest that we must expect wide spread disruptions in food supply.
